The impact of changes to NHS Charging Regs on everyone – Thackray Museum 6th June 2018 from 1.30pm to 4.45pm.

So far only two Managers from 3rd Sector orgs are registered.

If you deliver any kind of community based health service to migrants or non-migrants and are funded by NHS or Public Health – you’re potentially affected by these new regs, so it’s enormously important someone senior from your org attends.

This even is happening because Leeds Health and Well Being Board’s Migrant Health Sub Group decided this was the first and most pressing thing they needed to address.

“National Health Service (Charges to Overseas Visitors) (Amendment) Regulations 2017 expanded the bodies required to make and recover charges from overseas visitors to include non-NHS providers of relevant services. As a result, some services provided in the community, which may include several of our Public Health and Adult Social Care commissioned services have now become chargeable to those overseas visitors who are not exempt from charge.

There has been little guidance issued around the regulations, so we believe there may be limited awareness of the amended regulations amongst service providers, commissioners, Primary Care, community agencies and users, as well as uncertainty as to how to implement. However, it is clear that as a health system, it is important for us all to work together to ensure that additional barriers do not get in the way of people seeking the help they need as soon as possible. At this early stage, we have become aware that the regulations have the potential to produce a wide range of undesirable implications for many of our most vulnerable groups. In Leeds, as a declared compassionate city, we wish to minimise as much as possible.

If you are someone who works with vulnerable groups, is a commissioner, or is commissioned by Leeds City Council, I would urge you to register for our workshop at Thackray Medical Museum 141 Beckett St, Leeds LS9 7LN on 6th June 2018 from 1.30pm to 4.45pm.

We have secured a number of excellent and very knowledgeable speakers who will help you to understand the new regulations and consider the implications for your service. We would then like to ask you to contribute to discussions that can help us collectively plan a compassionate way forward for Leeds.
