Each year 16 Day of Action against Domestic Violence Events National and International are held by women’s networks, corporations, charities, educational institutions, government bodies etc. Where global gatherings, conferences, awards, exhibitions, festivals, sponsored walks, corporate events, concerts, performances, speaking events take place.

This year 2017 West Yorkshire Police working in Partnership with Ruth for Women, Leeds Refugee Forum Women’s Lives Leeds, White Ribbon and Leeds City Council have all come together to raise awareness of Domestic Violence.

Forums will be provided for women to campaign for equality and women’s rights, to recognise the progress that has been made to inspire women to commend their achievements. The event will take place in the heart of Leeds, National and International Guest speakers will be invited from afar to deliver their powerful speeches to hundreds of women from diverse communities around Domestic Violence “No Excuse for Abuse”.

Our aims are to:

  • Empower women/men who have been affected by domestic abuse to live independent lives free from fear and abuse
  • Keep the voice of the survivor at the heart of everything we do
  • Meet the needs of  women and children affected by domestic abuse
  • Provide services run by women that are based on listening to survivors and responding to what they define as their needs
  • Challenge and highlight the disadvantages which result from domestic abuse
  • Support and reflect diversity and promote equality of opportunity

Please feel free to share with your community groups and contacts.

If you require a stall on the day a small donation of £20.00 would be greatly appreciated as this will help fund the event.
