Basic Safeguarding Awareness for small community orgs, from VAL

Voluntary Action Leeds delivers a safeguarding children basics course within the community. This course was developed to enable people to learn about the basics of safeguarding before they went onto undertake more formal training, like the Level 1 course offered by the Leeds Safeguarding Children Board. This course has been well received in the community, particularly within newer migrant communities who may have a limited awareness of safeguarding.

Building on this, VAL has received funding from the Safer Communities Fund to develop a new basics course which brings together children and adults safeguarding.

The aim of this course is to improve people’s knowledge and also give them the confidence to have conversations within their own communities about safeguarding.

To do this we’re looking for people within specific communities (Afghan, Roma, African and Syrian) who are interested in undertaking the training and then receiving follow up support to take their learning out into their community.

If you have anyone that may be interested (in the communities mentioned) could you please pass this on to them or get in touch please contact [email protected]
