Refugees at Home – looking for hosts
Refugees at Home connects people with a spare room to refugees and asylum seekers in need of somewhere to stay.
We recruit and support volunteer hosts who are willing to offer a temporary home and a helping hand. Our role is to carefully match each guest and host, to assess and prepare them ready for hosting, to advise on hosting arrangements and accommodation, and to provide ongoing support to hosts throughout each stay.
Each placement is different, and the length of hosting can vary from a few nights to several months and anything in between.
Hosting is entirely altruistic, and we do not pay hosts for giving up their spare rooms.
We are always looking for new hosts with a spare room or two, in cities and towns that are well connected and have good public transport systems. This enables our guests to travel to college, school, support groups or jobs, and retain their independence.

Please refer to our website for further information on becoming a host: https://refugeesathome.org/get-involved/id-like-to-host/

Preparing for the Illegal Migration Act: Leeds
Tuesday 6 February 12:30pm-3:30pm
Middle Floor, 23-25 Wharf St, Leeds LS2 7EQ

Right to Remain and Migrant Action are hosting an event on the Illegal Migration Act on Tuesday 6 February between 12:30 and 3.30pm. This event is part of a series of information and discussion events organised by Right to Remain to understand the Illegal Migration Act and how we are preparing our communities to face the impact of the act.

The session is aimed at:
• members of community groups
• workers and volunteers from local refugee and migrant support organisations
• self organised groups of people in the system
Please note, this event is for people based in Leeds and the surrounding region only. We would prefer to limit attendance to two participants from each group or organisation, to maximise the reach to as many groups as possible.
