eVisas – clients to get texts about creating an account
UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) has begun sending text message notifications to Biometric Residency Permit (BRP) holders to encourage them to create a UKVI account. This may lead to some offices getting inquiries from clients who don’t know what to do or who want assistance in creating an account. Any client with a BRP should be encouraged to create an account, even if they haven’t received a text or email. The text message says:

“Hello.

Your Biometric Residence Permit (BPR) reference ending [4 digits] is being replaced with an eVisa.

If you haven’t already, search ‘online immigration status’ at gov.uk to find out how to create a UKVI account and access your eVisa.

If you already have a UKVI account, please update your travel document and personal information.

Search ‘update your account’ on gov.uk for details.”

OISC has confirmed that any assistance that is likely to be provided… will be technical/digital assistance and this does not fall for regulation as set out in the OISC practice note.

You can read what falls for regulation in the OISC Regulated Assistance Practice note on GOV.UK
