Cost of living crisis and NRPF — Praxis

NRPF – quarterly immigration statistics

The latest quarterly immigration and protection statistics were published on 25 May providing data up to the end of March 2023. Included is some data on applications for a change of conditions to remove the NRPF condition from one’s leave to remain. Here are the main highlights:

  • A total of 935 applications were made in Q1 of 2023.
  • Out of the 814 applications made,  384 decisions were made with 551 outstanding. 297 applications were accepted and 87 refused.
  • The average waiting time for a decision in Q3 40 days.
  • The acceptance rate was 77% (this is the highest it has been since 2020).
  • Ages 31-40, followed by 41-50 and under 18s were the age categories with the highest number of applicants.
  • 583 (62%) applications were from female applicants, 352 from male (38%).
  • The top nationalities were Nigeria (156), India (103), and Ghana (100).
  • There were 5 applications from British National (Overseas) status holders and 6 applications from Hong Kong SAR nationals in Q1 of 2023.

Note: there is no official government data published on NRPF applications at a regional level, only national. This data can tell us about the numbers coming forward to apply, their outcomes and nationalities as well as shedding some light into what communities have high numbers of people living with the no recourse to public funds condition.

Please contact [email protected]  if you have any questions about the data.

A date for your diary: Yorkshire Integration Festival 2023

Following the phenomenal success of last year’s event, the Yorkshire Integration Festival 2023 is heading to the Peace Gardens and Winter Garden in Sheffield on Saturday 30th September 2023. This family-friendly event will celebrate the integration of refugees, and all our communities in Yorkshire and Humber, through music, food, performances and other activities – further details about the programme will be released in the coming months. The Festival will be open to the public and admission will be free so we’d be grateful if you could share this information with your networks.

We are also now accepting expressions of interest from performers, migrant community groups and local small businesses to be involved with the event – we are particularly keen to hear from those with a refugee background. If you, or anyone in your networks, would like to be involved, please email [email protected] by Friday 23rd June 2023 with the details and we’ll be in touch.

The group does NOT need to be incorporated. We can then issue a unique code allowing the group to book free festival tickets for its members. If you would like a code for your particular group, please get in touch with the following details:

  • – Purpose of group
  • – Number of active members
  • – Key postcode areas where members are based
  •  – Main contact person for the group
  • – Postcode for main contact person
  • – Email

If you are involved with another community group / project or if you know of other groups who would benefit from free festival tickets, please let me know.

Would you also spread the word about our Ethical Ticketing Policy which means senior citizens, refugees and asylum seekers, anyone in receipt of disability benefit or other support, those in full time education, living in social housing, or on any type of government benefit (including tax credits or universal credit) can book FREE tickets.
