This Blog has been going – in one form or another – since September 2015, when it was designed and built on a smartphone, in the bedroom of a Premier Inn in Hull, during the Freedom Festival.
It started out as a list of all the places people where could offer help or volunteer, in response to the pictures of Syrian (and other) refugees that were all over the TV news that autumn.
Since then it has grown and morphed into what you see today: hyper-local information on asylum, refuge and other issues of migration in Leeds. It’s still looked after by a couple of volunteers (Richard at Refugee Council and Jon at LASSN). Last year, we got £300 towards website/hosting costs from Leeds City Council Communities team. Our first and only funding. We were and are very grateful.
We rebranded the site in August 2017 (from http://leedsmultiagency.org.uk) to become the official way in which the Leeds Migration Partnership http://migrationpartnership.org.uk communicated with our membership.
In Q1 of 2018 the website got about 2,000 hits a month and 700 visitors.
In Q2 of 2018 the website got about 2,100 hits a month and 800 visitors.
We currently have 309 subscribers
Our most popular day of the year (so far) was March 5th when we had 345 hits in a single day
