Following an update from Mary Brandon regarding Leeds City Council joining the City of Sanctuary Local Authority Network in May 2023. A City of Sanctuary Local Authority Network steering group first met on the 9th of October 2023.
The purpose of the group is to:
- Bring together third sector and local authority partners, with those who have lived experience of seeking sanctuary.
- Support the development of an action plan, using the learn, embed and share principles, that aligns with the Strategic, Coordinated and Inclusive Approach to Migration in Leeds.
- Ensure the council commitment for people seeking sanctuary is turned into positive action.
- Support the council to achieve the City of Sanctuary Local Authority Network award.
A summary of the meeting notes will be uploaded to the Leeds Migration Partnership blog following each meeting (see below the meeting summary from the 9th of October).
