A couple of weeks back, we asked if anyone was interested in helping behind the scenes at the LMP Blog.
What’s involved?
We want someone to log in, check the posts submitted by the public (usually about 6 or 7 a week) tidy them up, make sure they accord with our editorial policy, make sure all the links work and then hit publish.
The LMP Blog is built using WordPress, but the skills needed take about 15 minutes to learn. It’ll then take about 15 mins a week, and can be done from anywhere with a device and a wifi connection at any time of day or night.
What kind of person are we looking for?
We’d encourage anyone to volunteer – but your level of English needs to be good enough to spot (and discreetly correct) typos, or missing information that is important to the success of the post (ie dates, times, contact details, attachments etc).
What will you get in return?
- Basic training on WordPress (if you can confidently format a Word document, you can confidently use WordPress)
- Experience of running the country’s first/most successful blog supporting local migration activists and staff
- You’ll learn tons about what’s happening in Leeds – it’s a great way of keeping on top of a fast-moving topic
- A reference, or something to put on your CV/Linked in Profile – if that’s useful
- The quiet sense of contentment you get when you know you’ve helped someone out. Except you’ll be helping more than 700 people every a week.
