Key points from call between Home Office and Strategic Migration Partnership on 3rd December 2020
- Asylum intake varies from week to week but is fairly static. There are no plans to use more hotel sites at present and 2 sites across the country are now closing.
- Additional payments – letters have gone out to SUs and providers have started making payments as of 30th November. Leaflets have also been given to SU who are not eligible for payments so that they understand the reasons why. Backdated payments also started last week for SUs eligible.
- Home Office have had discussions with providers over COVID vaccinations for asylum seekers. Home Office are seeking advice and guidance and will update on whether there are plans to support vaccinations of SUs in DA/IA/Contingency accommodation.
