The Mission of Survivors West Yorkshire – the organization behind Ben’s Place – is to support male survivors of sexual violence and abuse for over two decades across Bradford, Leeds, Huddersfield, Wakefield, and Halifax. Our online services feature a variety of self-help guides, media resources, and websites specifically designed for male survivors.
Alongside this, we run awareness projects. Over the past year we have been facilitating a variety of workshops that revolve around the idea of the Kintsugi, which is the Japanese art form of repairing broken pottery with a gold lacquer, and using it as a metaphor for survivors healing processes. The next installation of this project is an online film festival taking place on the evenings of 14th, 15th,and 16th November 2023. We have named this ‘Kintsugi Conversations’.

We will be showing a variety of short creative films and documentaries over the three days, and each screening will be followed by a panel discussion with activists from across the UK.
