Reporting safeguarding concerns: a reminder from the Home Office

The Home Office, Migrant Help and AASC Providers have asked SMPs [ed. Strategic Migration Partnerships – in Leeds/Yorkshire & Humber that means Migration Yorkshire] to remind all stakeholders that as the organisation first receiving a Safeguarding disclosure, concern or information pertaining to risk of harm, that they should act as first responder and alert the statutory / emergency services to the situation as swiftly as possible. Immediate safeguarding concerns should not be raised solely with Migrant Help, Accommodation Providers and the Home Office.

Please do not hesitate to contact Leeds Safeguarding Adults or Leeds Safeguarding Children services who offer 24 hour referral telephone line for emergencies.  Additionally, you should also contact 999 or 101 if required.

With best wishes

Vicky Ledwidge, Integration & Partnerships Officer, Migration Yorkshire
