New ARC Cards from Home Office from July 2017

“The Home Office are launching an upgraded ARC card, as part of improving the way in which immigration services are delivered.

From late June 2017 the new ARC will be introduced by the Home Office, in a phased manner, for people newly seeking asylum. The current ARC will continue to be valid until 2019.

The new  ARC will:-

  • Display an individual’s identity
  • Continue to be used for status checking
  • 47 new security features
  • Compliant biometric image – International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO)
  • Right to work status
  • Will closely resemble Biometric Residence Permit (BRP)
  • 2 year validity period (expiry date)

Home Office expect all their sites, will be able to request production of ARC’s from July 2017 onwards.”
