Funding: Safer Communities Fund Grant – Deadline 23rd September

Grant round 9 of the Safer Communities Fund opened on 30th August and closes on the 23rd September. This grant round £140,000 is available to projects and is a themed round on crime prevention.

Grants will be allocated to projects who can demonstrate they are working specifically towards preventing crime.  Investing in crime prevention is key to making sure our communities are safer and feel safer. Projects are welcomed which:

  • Put crime prevention at the forefront of efforts to reduce the opportunity for crime for example acquisitive crime (such as burglary and car crime), violent crime, business crime and anti-social behaviour.
  • Provide security solutions for community projects, properties or community enterprises.
  • Provide crime prevention support to communities and organisations such as school/colleges, businesses and the third sector.

Early intervention projects helping to prevent crime and anti-social behaviour.

On reviewing the fund we have made some changes to the application process, please see the below changes with immediate effect:

  1. On this occasion the grant round has a crime prevention theme, please see the Guidance Notes for more information.
  2. Note the requirement at Question 27 on the application for you to declare that the money you are applying for does not replace previous statutory funding.
  3. Organisations may only have one successful project running within a year, the year will be calculated from the date of the awards evening.
  4. The Safer Communities Fund will no longer support refreshment costs.
  5. If successful you will now only be asked to submit one final monitoring/evaluation form, please see the Terms and Conditions for more information.
  6. To increase good governance the independent board who review applications is set to increase in size.
