Change to Refugee Resettlement Support to Refugees in Leeds – from April 1st 2023

From the 1st April 2023 there will be a change in the delivery of support for resettled refugees in Leeds.

The provision of integration support for all resettled refugees in Leeds will transfer from Refugee Council to the Leeds City Council communities team. This transfer applies to all resettled clients who are currently registered with Refugee Council and any future arrivals of resettled refugees into the city.

Refugee Council will therefore no longer be able to offer or provide any casework support to resettled refugees in Leeds from the 1st April 2023 onwards.

Any queries from refugees after this point who are on any of the following schemes will need to be directed to Leeds City Council.

The contact details for the Resettlement team who are providing the support and accommodation for resettled refugees in Leeds is [email protected]

  • Afghans on ARAP (Afghan Relocations and Assistance Policy) and ACRS (Afghan Citizens Resettlement Scheme)
  • Syrian families on VPRS (Vulnerable Persons Resettlement Scheme)
  • Families from other nationalities resettled through UKRS (UK Resettlement Scheme)
  • Children from the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, including their families on Vulnerable Childrens Resettlement Scheme (VCRS)

Other Refugee Council programmes such as the STEP employment project, New Roots and the Indefinite Leave to Remain coordination project for resettled refugees all continue to operate as business as usual.
