UK Gov have issued new ‘Guidance for banks and building societies on carrying out immigration checks on current account holders’ and making it clear that “a disqualified person is someone who is in the UK and requires permission to be in the UK but does not have it.”
In simple terms, if someone cannot prove their right to remain to their Bank electronically, their bank account will be closed down.
