Job: Sessional Somali, Dari & Pashto Interpreters, Refugee Council – July 24

Refugee Council are looking to recruit sessional interpreters who can speak at least one of the following languages: Somali, Pashto, or Dari. 

Hours will vary.

Context and Purpose of the role:

Interpreters will work mainly with our Resettlement team in West and North Yorkshire.

Our Resettlement team supports newly resettled refugees to settle into the UK.

The project requires interpreters to facilitate communication between clients and resettlement workers or other professionals by providing consistent, effective, and high-quality interpreting in a neutral and impartial manner.

Face to face interpreting sessions may take place at various sites across the region including at airports, community venues, or in the clients’ homes.  Remote sessions may take place via telephone or video call.

We are looking for interpreters with a high level of English as well as Dari, Pashto or Somali.

Ideally, interpreters will have some experience of working with refugees or vulnerable people.

Pay Rates: Face to Face Interpreting Work

  • 1st hr: £20.00
  • After 1st hr each 15 min: £4.50
  • Travel Time each 15 min: £2.50

Telephone Interpreting Work:

  •  1st 10 min or part: £5.00
  • After 1st 10min: £0.25 per minute
