Holbeck Moor Women’s Football Club is the first women’s football club of Sanctuary. (The first ever FCoS was Tongwynlais Football Club of Sanctuary.)
Reem, Diana and I had the pleasure of assessing their application and were touched to see all the efforts they have made to enable women seeking sanctuary to play football such as providing kit, a creche and transport. The feedback from the women and the sharing via social media is great. The women not only fit in but feel they belong. In these depressing times when the government is trying to ban people seeking asylum it is a real lift to see a grass roots club offering welcome and inclusion.
The award will be given next Tuesday 28th March at Slung Low Theatre in Holbeck at their Celebration of International Culture event. If you are able to join us for the celebration you would be most welcome. Please book on the link below.
