A free session in Finding Your Voice: Speaking with Creativity and Confidence for refugees and asylum seekers and those who work with them, led by artist Barney Bardsley, on behalf of the West Yorkshire Playhouse.
This workshop will help to build strength and confidence in body and voice, through a range of easy and enjoyable exercises, using speech, song and movement.
We aim to enhance individual performance skills when giving public presentations, as well as building group awareness and support, in a friendly, relaxed environment.
Tips and advice on how to handle different personal and public situations will be offered, plus a chance to share your own unique experiences and skills.
The session is ideal for those who already speak about their personal testimonies in public settings, as well as those who are new to public speaking, and those who
support them.
It is open to all asylum seekers and refugees as well as any volunteers working with or assisting asylum seekers or refugees within Leeds.
A light lunch will be provided at lunchtime. A bus ticket for refugees and asylum seekers is available after attending.
