What’s This About?
LASSN has some brilliant English teaching resources that were previously on our website but had to be removed due to image permission issues. These materials are extremely useful for learners, but they require new, copyright-free images if we are to reuse them. All of LASSN’s resources are available to anyone who wants to use them, free of charge. We’re looking for a volunteer who can find or create high-quality images to make these resources available again.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Check Out the Resources: Go through the existing materials and see where images need to be swapped out.
Find New Images: Look for high-quality, copyright-free images from free sites like Unsplash, Pixabay, Pexels, Reshot StockSnap.io. Or you can use AI tools (like DALL·E (OpenAI), Deep Dream Generator, Runway ML, Artbreeder, Dream by Wombo) to create images if you’re feeling creative.
- Swap Out the Old Ones: Replace the outdated or missing images in the documents while making sure everything still looks neat and makes sense.
- Final Check: Make sure everything looks good, is easy to understand, and is ready to be used in lessons.
Image Guidelines:
- The images should be clear, engaging, and work well for all kinds of learners.
- Any images you find need to be copyright-free, or you should properly credit them.
- If you’re using AI tools, make sure the images fit the content and help with the lesson goals.
- The final materials should be easy to share and print.
What We’re Looking For:
- Some experience with graphic design, creating digital content, or illustrating (but it’s not a deal-breaker if you’re just starting out).
- Understanding of image licensing (so you don’t get into trouble with copyright stuff).
- Bonus if you’ve worked with AI-generated images before, but no worries if not.
- Basic skills with document editing tools like Microsoft Word or Canva.
Why It Matters:
By helping us update these materials, you’ll be improving the learning experience for people working to improve their English skills. You’ll be giving them the tools to feel more confident and independent, as well as equipping their tutors with excellent and engaging materials.
