The World on our Doorstep – Event from Refugee Council and City of Sanctuary

On Tuesday October 3rd to Thursday October 5th a creative, interactive make shift Exhibition / Refugee Camp is been set up in Horsforth to help the local and wider community engage more with the issue of how to support Refugees and Asylum Seekers.

To end the week on Friday 13th October at St Margaret’s Church in Horsforth, from 6.30 – 9pm, an event will be run to end the week which is open to anyone and will involve:

  •  Food cooked by the Syrian Community,
  •  Stalls run by different organisations
  •  Live Music
  •  Testimonies from Refugees who are connected to Projects in Leeds.
  •  Group Discussion on how people can play there part.

The whole Event looks to be an exciting initiative organised by Duncan Stow, who runs Horsforth Churches Together Community Project and and is also under the banner of Leeds City of Sanctuary and the Refugee Council. Its probably the first event to happen, since 2015 when people were responding to the international Refugee Crisis, where we would hope to get in access of 100 people.

Stall Holders would be asked to arrive at 5.45pm in preparation for a 6.30pm start. Please email Dave Paterson if you’d like to book a stall.
