Sustaining Change in Workplace Race Equality: What Works and What Doesn’t

In Higher Education progress appears glacial, even after the challenges facing the UK public sector were highlighted by the Macpherson Inquiry in 1999. In the NHS, the Workforce Race Equality Standard is the first major public sector initiative to bring together the academic evidence on what is likely to work with examples of best practice across the UK and abroad.
Roger Kline shares his seminal work in the NHS to explore the scale and importance of the challenge for HE, why previous efforts have been largely unsuccessful, and will consider “what works”. Roger will draw on research and practical examples which suggest the shared characteristics of effective interventions and their possible implications for education.
