What? Sounds Like Home is a piece by artist Alisa Oleva. This project grew from relationships Alisa formed last year with people who have migrated to Leeds.
It began with one-to-one walks with individuals from different countries, and now, through a series of listening stations, Alisa has created Sounds Like Home which connects Leeds residents to the sounds of distant hometowns.
The project takes the form of a listening walk, where up to 25 participants per walk, will experience sounds from people broadcasting from participating countries including Chile and Ukraine inviting reflection on the themes of migration, home, and belonging.
We are particularly committed to involving individuals with lived experiences of migration, as their voices and perspectives are central to the heart of this project.
