Resource of the week #69: Transition Guide

Ok, we know – this was ROTW #44 back in October 2018 – but some things are too good to keep quiet about.

The Transition Guide is a website aimed at Refugees who have recently been granted leave to remain in the UK to help them understand what new rights and entitlements they have, and to give advice on how to get them. It focuses on the kind of things that will be a priority during the first 6 months of becoming a refugee.

If you are someone who helps refugees, you’ll also find it useful, as you can print off pages to give to people, or send links to peole who call you up asking for advice. It gives basic information on a number of important subjects, and links to more detailed information if that’s needed.

Here are some fun facts about the transitionguide.org.uk

  1. The Transition Guide is translated into 26 languages
  2. It has 23 sections and 77 accessible, in-depth articles on a wide range of topics from understanding bin collections and recycling, to Bank Accounts and understanding the tax you pay on your earnings
  3. There are more than 500 links to more detailed, specialist sources of information
  4. In the last month, the most popular articles have been on driving a car, biometric residency permits, and finding interpreters
  5. You can order transitionguide.org.uk business cards and posters to display in your offices or drop-in, by emailing [email protected]
