Resource of the Week #39: Free publicity and design resources

Recently, our mates at Leeds Refugee Forum asked Twitter if anyone could help with designing flyers and leaflets.

They received a really helpful reply, when someone suggested using Adobe Sparks – which offers free design templates an other things.

So, we thought we’d share some other free/low cost things we’ve found helpful in designing/producing publicity for Leeds Migration Partnership

  • Canva is an online design tool that’s easier (and cheaper) than Publisher, and has some great, modern looking templates for all sorts of things, from documents to infographics to posters. We made our Leeds Migration Partnership Infographics using Canva*
  • The Noun Project is a collection of free icons, some of which were used in the production of this website
  • Coolors.co helps to generate colour schemes that work together. And yes, we used that too.
  • Fontpair is a neat app that helps you to pick Google fonts that compliment each other. Although we used this, we ignored their advice and went for a combination of Patua One and Open Sans.

*We also made these posters to encourage people to donate to the Leeds Hardship Fund at RefuJazz 2018 with Canva
