Refugees wanted to help design a guide to life in Leeds

LASSN are looking for refugees to help them to design the new Transition guide for Leeds – a step-by-step guide to life in Leeds for the first 3 months following a positive decision. The content will cover access to housing, benefits, health, education as well as detailed guidance on the kind of information people will need at each stage of the process.

There will be two focus groups held 14:00 – 16:00 on  14th and 15th December at Leeds Refugee Forum and RETAS, where we hope to consult on the layout and design principles of the guide (what it will look like, and how we make it wasy to use). Participants should be refugees and ideally will have some basic written english. Each participant will receive a £15 in Morrison’s vouchers as a thank-you.

Spaces for both sessions are limited so please encourage people to sign up here: http://bit.ly/leedsfocus

Those of you with long memories will remember that the groundwork for the transition guide started in 2015 – based on the Belfast City Guide – but stalled due to lack of resources. It’s now been given a new lease of life with funding from Leeds City Council as part of the MAP+ programme.
