The Home Office fund housing support and advice service for asylum seekers – and both of these contracts have recently been renewed.
It’s been decided that
- the c£400 million Housing Contract for Yorkshire and Humber will pass over from G4S to Mears in September 2019 [Migration Yorkshire’s Press release] and
- the c£100 million Advice Contract has been retained by Migrant Help and their Asylum Help helpline [Migrant Help’s press release]
These present a great opportunity to drive up quality in the sector and to ensure people from far away who are having it tough get decent support whilst they await their asylum decisions.
In order to help our colleagues at Mears and Asylum Help to deliver on their promises, we thought it would be helpful to publish what they’ve been asked to do – the service specifications.
