Further information about asylum support payments from Helen Atkinson at the Home Office
While longer-term solutions are set up Home Office will make provision for 3 separate 5-week payments in the sum of £40 – to meet the weekly £8 provision per individual being accommodated in full board IA (or contingent) accommodation.
- 1st scheduled payment: 30th November – for payments up to 3rd January.
- 2nd scheduled payment: 4th January – for payments up to 7th February.
- 3rd scheduled payment: 8th February – for payments up to 14th March
They are still planning the distribution of ASPEN pre-dispersal and the functionality that will enable payment on ASPEN cards, however, this will not likely be in place until late February (starting distribution in January).
Back payments will also commence from 30th November for those that are dispersed. Caseworkers will review the individual’s grant and provision to make this payment.
Home Office will also be working with the data hub to pick up anyone that has been dispersed prior to 30th November – so we have details to make their back payments – these back payments should be completed by end of January.
