“Changes to the Leeds Mental Health Single Point of Access (SPA)
Work is currently underway as part of the community redesign project to change Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust’s Single Point of Access (SPA). From 4 March 2019 it will operate in a more clearly defined role of providing an access point for secondary care referrals.
The SPA will continue to provide the single referral pathway into LYPFT services, triage referrals for urgent same day face-to-face crisis assessment, and direct less urgent referrals through to other appropriate secondary care teams. Pathways and contact details for referrers will not change and service users and carers can still make referrals to the SPA for people who have previously been under our care.
The primary difference will be that the SPA will not continue to provide an out of hours telephone support line function for service users and carers. To ensure that service users and carers still have access to telephone support, arrangements are being put in place to extend access to a telephone support line through third sector partners in Leeds. This is currently in development with commissioners and is anticipated to be in place from the beginning of March when calls will be re-directed to these services.
