Negative cessations – IMPORTANT UPDATE May 2021

Update on negative cessations:

  • Section 95 discontinuations have commenced.
  • There’s a cap of 175 evictions nationally, until Step 3 of government’s roadmap (“Not before 17th May“). Home Office won’t remove this in practice until round 1 month later.
  • Service Users have started receiving discontinuation letters. Home Office working through cases and allocating discontinuations where appropriate. Some Service Users won’t receive discontinuations if there are safeguarding matters, pregnancy or over 65s.
  • The court order preventing Section 4 evictions has been lifted. Home Office can now begin Section 4 discontinuations however are focussing on Section 95 cases at present. Looking at approx. late May to commence Section 4 discontinuations.
  • Intake and occupancy – Intake busy last week with over 200 arrivals via small boats in one day. There is capacity within IA estate. Arrivals will eventually be routed nationally, but Home Office are also looking at moving more people into Napier Barracks.
