Men’s Health Fair: Living Well and Taking Control – 28th March 11:00-18:00

There are high incidents of ill-health among African, African-Caribbean and South Asian men, especially suffering with diabetes, high blood pressure, obesity, arthritis, prostate and other cancers. Men continue to prove reluctant to address their health issues, until symptoms are well advanced, and difficult to treat.

The Leeds Boyz2Men Health & Well-being project aims to encourage Black and South Asian men to take control of their own health & well-being, and is piloting a project in the Chapeltown and Harehills areas of Leeds to raise awareness about men’s health issues and encourage men to engage in healthy lifestyles and activities.

The Men’s Health Fair is part of the Boyz2Men awareness-raising activities, and provides an opportunity for local men to take a basic health MOT, including checks for diabetes, blood pressure and weight, and discuss health & well-being issues with a range of professional health services representatives and GPs.

A feature is the Men’s Cook & Eat session, with bespoke dietary plans and advice, and a cooking session preparing lunch using the Eatwell Plate.
