Applications for community event grants for International Day of Older People (IDOP) 2017 are now open. The closing date for applications is 4.00pm, Thursday 3 August 2017
International Day of Older People is celebrated worldwide on the 1 October each year; in Leeds we stretch the celebration out over a week to allow organisations to hold events to celebrate the contribution that older people make to the city.
Theme
The events focus on a different theme each year and the theme for 2017 is Diversity of Older People. Organisations can apply for Community Grants of up to £200.
We welcome applications that can demonstrate a link to the theme:
- Diversity encompasses acceptance and respect.
- It means understanding that each individual is unique, and recognizing our individual differences.
- It is the exploration of these differences in a safe, positive, and nurturing environment.
- It is about understanding each other and moving beyond simple tolerance to embracing and celebrating the rich dimensions of diversity contained within each individual.
and reflect the ethos of IDOP which is:
- To promote and celebrate the contribution of older people to the city
- To highlight the barriers that still exist to older people’s full participation
Who can apply?
- Voluntary and Statutory Sector Organisations.
- We particularly welcome applications from small and medium sized groups and organisations.
- We encourage organisations to apply who want to expand their service/activities to include older people.
Here’s the application pack and you can also find out more at the Forum Central Website
