Immigration & religious tolerance: comics by refugees, asylum seekers and folks from Leeds (and Manchester): 13th – 20th May, Leeds Central Library

‘Our Grand Exhibition of amazing comics made by refugees, asylum seekers and local residents of Leeds and Manchester on the theme of ‘Immigration and Religious Tolerance’.

The Exhibition is being held at Room 700,(off The Art Library) Leeds Central Library and will be open to one and all from 13th to the 20th of May: 10am to 5pm every day! It also includes fun comics workshops, inspiring talks and cool live music for all ages and walks of life!

Details below:

Sat 13th – 2-4pm: Grand Opening: come chat with the CCPUK team/movement, draw your comics, laugh, chill, have philosophical debates, dance or nod your head to the music, meet new people, get involved in the movement.

Sun 14th – 1-3pm: Comics Workshop for 0 to 10 year olds (and their parents/relatives). Come learn some cool skills on how to create comics. Create your very own super-hero! All adults will get involved too…don’t worry about that (NB: all children must be supervised by an adult)

Mon 15th – 2-4pm: Comics Workshop for 18 to 100 year olds. Come make a comic and learn new skills. What are you passionate about? Let’s show you how to make a comic and then we will exhibit it worldwide for you. Just bring your spirit, heart and story.

Tues 16th to Thurs 18th – 10-5pm: Come view the exhibition!

Fri 19th – 3-4.30pm: Comics workshop for 11 to 17 year olds. Come make a comic about whatever you love. Learn some cool skills for drawing comics, character design and technical tips. (NB: all under 18 year olds need to be supervised by an adult)

Sat 20th – 12-4pm: Final Showing and Celebration: Live hip-hop/spoken word, live acoustic music, draw your comics on the wall (magic white-board), chat, chill. With talks from some super-special guest speakers……very exciting!
