How to find out current number of asylum seekers in all LA areas

Dave from Boaz has discovered how to find out current (or nearly current) numbers of asylum seekers in all local authority areas.

The stats are hidden away in the Home Office quarterly stats. These are the steps –

  1. Go to https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/immigration-statistics-april-to-june-2016/list-of-tables#asylum
  2. Go to Volume 4, as 16q
  3. Then you need to enable editing
  4. Then click on the filter at the top of the third column local authority.
  5. Scroll down until you find the LA you need, and click on it
  6. Scroll right to the bottom of the page, which will give you the most recent stats (June 2016).
  7. There are 3 columns: 1= total numbers  2=those just receiving subsistence but not accommodation  3=those on subsistence+accommodation
