Home Office update w/c 22nd July 2021

via Ally, our VCS rep

Home office/Strategic Migration Partnership weekly Covid 19 call 22.07.2021

  • Negative cessations – Negative cessations resumed on 19 July 2021.  Letters going out to LAs, LGA Chief Execs group, SMPs and VCS. Home Office now resuming its pre-pandemic policy on ending support. Both s4 and s95 recipients to get 21 days notice of discons. S4 cases will also include a review process where HO write to SUs first to establish any reasons to remain on support before discontinuing. Home Office have started with s95 cases and will start s4 in a few weeks’ time. Home Office are starting with the most recent cases and will work backwards through the backlog. It will take 10-15 weeks to clear backlog. Home Office will not issue any huge surges in discons and the number of cases they can process each week is constrained by their capacity.
  • Intake – figures are extremely high as a result of increasing small boats arrivals.
  • Operation Oak – back to approximately 10,000 population in hotels nationally.

The Windrush Engagement Team will shortly be hosting a Windrush introductory information event and I was hoping that you could forward the attached leaflet to any NRPF/SMG contacts that you think may have clients who would benefit from attending this please. The sessions are specifically designed for affected individuals and communities with little to no knowledge of the Windrush Schemes or how to apply.
