At RETAS/City of Sanctuary we are currently taking referrals for the next cohort (2016/17) of the Hidden Talents programme run by the charity Growing Points, who support people from excluded communities to reach their full potential in their chosen field.
The Hidden Talents programme finds sanctuary seekers with ambition and drive and supports them with one-to-one guidance to apply for jobs as clinical support workers in the NHS, through a link forged with Leeds NHS Trust. Each member of the cohort will be paired with a “guardian” who is a practitioner already working in the NHS. They will be provided with CV workshops, presentation skills and confidence workshops, support to find volunteering opportunities, interview practice, laptops and any other resources that they will need to prepare for the job application.

Due to the success of last year’s programme, the intake for this coming year has increased as the NHS has committed to uncovering even more hidden talents from among the marginalised communities of Leeds.
Do you know someone from a migrant community who might benefit from being part of this programme? They don’t need experience in health care, we can help with that. However they will need to be committed, self-motivated and prepared to work hard in partnership with their guardian to achieve their goal.
