Gulwali Passarlay arrived in the UK at the age of 13 as a political refugee. Like many refugees, he has overcome the hardships of settling into a new life in Britain. He has campaigned for many social-justice issues and continues to make a positive difference in the community. He has appeared on national media, including the BBC, ITV and Channel 4 News, and has given a TEDx talk.

As part of this event there will be a photo exhibition of an intercultural child voice project ‘Hearts and Hopes’ which inspires local children to connect and stand in solidarity with children living in refugee camps and those who have arrived to our city, Leeds.
