Covid-19 Vaccine Research – Help Leeds Teaching Hospital get their message out to marginalised communities 19th August 2020 14:30-15:30

With so much misinformation/disinformation flying around about rthe development of c-19 vaccines, and people of African descent in particular this is an important opportunity to help shape the messaging behind the local vaccine trials.

A message to you from our colleagues at Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust (LTHT):

At LTHT, we are starting to plan for carrying out research into Covid-19 vaccines in the Leeds, York and Harrogate areas.

How we communicate this information to the public is very important. We need to ensure that the information provided is as clear and concise as possible, allowing people to make an informed decision about whether they wish to participate in the research or not.

In order for us do this, we would like to speak with different community groups who are often not represented in health research and have been disproportionately affected by Covid-19, by holding question and answer sessions. This will give community members an opportunity to find out more about vaccine research, and us the information we need to develop a series of frequently asked questions about vaccine research and a greater awareness of access needs.

We would like to invite you to a session taking place on Wednesday 19th August, 2.30-3.30pm which will be held on Zoom. If you are interested, please contact Amy Rebane on [email protected]

If you are interested, but unable to attend, please don’t hesitate to contact me and we can arrange something separately. We are also keen to work with community groups separately and will be offering a donation for this, so if that is of interest to you, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Amy Rebane – Outreach and Development Manager, NIHR Leeds Biomedical Research Centre (BRC)
