Consultation over the way anti-social behaviour is addressed in Leeds.

Leeds City Council and West Yorkshire Police are currently consulting on the methods they use to control anti-social behaviour in Leeds.

If you want to have your say, you can complete this online survey http://www.leeds.gov.uk/pspo.

PSPOs are not without their critics – read the concerns voiced by Liberty here and coverage of PSPOs in the Guardian  – which mainly focus on the ways in which PSPOs target particular groups of people.

“Leeds currently has 18 Designated Public Place Orders (DPPOs), which do not allow people to consume alcohol within certain ‘public places’. Following the changes in the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014, Leeds City Council has to reconsider its DPPOs and either withdraw or replace them with the new Public Space Protection Orders (PSPOs). We need to do this by October 2017.

We want to replace all 18 DPPOs with PSPOs to help resolve anti-social behaviour.

Leeds City Council, West Yorkshire Police, and Community Safety Partners including Ward Councillors believe that the existing DPPOs have helped agencies. We want to know if you agree with the views of Leeds City Council, West Yorkshire Police, and Community Safety Partners.”

The consultation starts on Monday 12 June 2017  and closes on Sunday 16 July 2017.
