Congratulations to Kidist!

A huge congratulations to Kidist, from RETAS Leeds on her award winning Masters’ research! 🎉

“First of all I would like to thank all for supporting me all the way.

My journey from being an Asylum Seeker, Community Network member at MAP and MNC, continuing higher education at Leeds Beckett University has been an incredible experience.

I did an Msc in Entrepreneurship and Business Development, winning the Dean’s Prize award. I am so proud and hope I could inspire other refugees.

I won the prize because of my project: “Unleashing Refugees Potential” (URP LEEDS). I believe it can support a huge number of refugees. I believe Entrepreneurship is the best way to empower refugees. The enterprise’s mission is to promote and commit to the integration of refugees and migrants who passed through, creating employment and/or self-employment opportunities.

I am now advising at Retas Leeds as part of the New Roots project which is delivered in partnership with the Refugee Council. Since November I supported 11 refugees to get their place at different universities in England.”

We wish Kidist all the best in her career and hope her project continues to empower other refugees and support them in setting up their own businesses.
