Asylum Support Payments to increase by £1.22/wk (24p/wk if you live in a hotel)

In late January – the Minister for Safe and Legal Migration wrote

The following letter gives even more detail, including the way this £1.22 (3.1%) increase has been calculated in line with CPI.  People in hotel accomodation will have their £8 weekly allowance increased by 24p (3.1%)

The CPI in February ’22 was reported to have increased 4.9% in the previous 12 months.  A number of anti-poverty campaigners have pointed to the way the CPI underestimates real-term inflation for the poorest people in the UK.
