Public Health in Leeds are targeting BME and people from migrant communities to increase the number of folks completing mid-life health checks
If you’re aged between 40 and 74, you may be eligible for a free NHS Health Check and should expect to receive an invitation every 5 years.
An NHS Health Check can lower your risk of developing some serious conditions such as diabetes, stroke, heart disease, kidney disease and some types of dementia.
What’s involved? An NHS Health Check is a short 20-30 minute appointment whereby a nurse will ask you simple questions about your lifestyle and family history, measure your height and weight, and take your blood pressure and do a blood test – often using a small finger prick test.
